Hot of the heels of Captain America's blood being a new MacGuffin in the latest episode of Agent Carter, Marvel is teasing a potential second superhero connection of sorts for the next episode -- one with red on the ledger.

In the trailer for February 3's "The Iron Ceiling" episode of Agent Carter, it's revealed that Carter and a compliment of the Howling Commandos are off to Russia. Not only that, but the video shows a young Russian girl with some expert fighting skills. Take a look:

Could Peggy and the Howling Commandos be coming across the fabled Red Room project, which in comics and movies, groomed a young Natasha Romanoff to become the killer spy the Black Widow? Based on the trailer, the Red Room is expected to make an appearance in May's Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Newsarama isn't projecting that Agent Carter will reveal that Natasha was alive in the 1940s Marvel Cinematic Universe - although Marvel Comics' did that in the classic Uncanny X-Men #268 featuring Captain America and Wolverine. What Agent Carter could be promising is the first look at the Red Room and some of the earliest recruits in the program, likely decades before Natasha was involved.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has established Natasha was born in the 1980s - November 22, 1984 to be exact, the same day as actress Scarlett Johannson's birth, coincidentally (but then everything about Natasha has a veil of secrecy and subterfuge around it). Check out these S.H.I.E.L.D. files released online by Marvel in the the promotional build-up to the first Avengers film, and zoom in on Natasha's file:

This upcoming Agent Carter episode could yield a look at some of the Red Room's earliest subjects, and possibly even some of the other women who have carried the Black Widow mantle in comics.
