It looks like actors aren't so eager to play the lead man in a super-team called Suicide Squad. Variety is reporting that Jake Gyllenhaal has turned down an offer to play the role of Rick Flagg in the upcoming Suicide Squad feature film. The role became open when the previously announced Tom Hardy vacated the role over scheduling issues with other projects.
Gyllenhaal's potential casting in this role was reported minutes after Hardy's departure was made public, with the fact that Gyllenhaal starred in Suicide Squad director David Ayers earlier film, End of Watch.
Suicide Squad is set to begin filming in April with a August 5, 2016 release date, and even without Hardy or Gyllenhaal they boast an impressive cast including Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney and Cara Delvigne. In addition to the role of Flag being vacant at this moment, neither Warner Bros. nor any Hollywood trade have issued any annoucements or updates regarding Viola Davis's negotiations to play Amanda Waller, leaving another potential vacancy.
