UPDATE January 21, 2014 2:45 P.M. EST: Late Night with Seth Meyers has now posted a YouTube video of Brian Michael Bendis' debut appearance on the show Tuesday, including being asked about the revelations coming from Marvel's Secret Wars announcements earlier in the day. Take a look:
Original Story: Some of the best comic books in the world were made late at night, and now comics writer Brian Michael Bendis is taking to late night to talk about them. The Portland-based writer is scheduled to be a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Tuesday, January 20. According to a press release from Marvel, Bendis will be there to promote the upcoming Powers television series based on the comic series by himself and Michael Avon Oeming. Powers is set to air on the Playstation Network, but no firm launch date has been announced.
Bendis will be the third guest on Tuesday's Late Night with Seth Meyers, after Lauren Graham and Rainn Wilson. Late Night with Seth Meyers airs on NBC beginning at 12:37 Eastern Time in the United States.
This isn't Meyers first crossover with comics. In 2009 he and fellow Saturday Night Live alum Bill Hader wrote a one-off comic for Marvel titled The Short Halloween. Also, Meyer's Hulu animated series The Awesomes heavily borrows from the superhero genre.
Although Bendis' scheduled appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers is notable, it is far from the first time comics creators have appeared on late night talk shows. Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada appeared multiple times on The Colbert Report, and Harvey Pekar made several well-known appearances on Late Night With David Letterman in the mid 1980s.
