While Marvel apparently had their reasons to so-far pass on making a live-action Black Widow solo film, Black Widow herself has found another web to play in. Variety reports that Scarlett Johannsen has signed on to play the lead role in DreamWorks' live-action adaptation of the popular manga/anime Ghost In The Shell by Masamune Shirow. No release date has been set, but Snow White & The Huntsman director Rupert Sanders is already on-board to direct.

Variety goes on to state that Steven Spielberg has long been a proponent of a live-action adaptation of Ghost In The Shell, and that Johannsen is one of the few female actresses with a proven track record to carry an action movie - thanks to her Marvel work, as well as last year's Lucy.
