TVLine is reporting (and corroborated by EW) that Cobalt, the announced spin-off series to AMC's The Walking Dead, will be based far from the location of the original show's cast: a whole 'nother coast to be exact. Michael Ausiello states that the series, which is set to begin filming in early 2015, will be set in the city of Los Angeles. This dovetails into recent reports that AMC was casting in the Los Angeles area the past few weeks.
The spin-off series, headed up by The Walking Dead co-creator Robert Kirkman and showrunner Dave Erickson, is rumored to be a prequel o the events of the original television series. AMC recently announced the casting of the key actors, Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey -- however, knowing how cast members can come and go, they may not be around too long once Cobalt begins.
