Mark Hamill is returning to a comic book role. It’s a DC Comics villain he’s played before…
Of course, we’re talking about The Trickster. Obviously.
Yes, Hamill will reprise his role as James Jesse, the Trickster on The Flash, a role he played on the original take on a live action Flash show on CBS in the early 90s. He’ll be in jail as the original Trickster, while a new one - presumably Axel Walker from Flash producer Geoff Johns’ run on the comic book, is causing trouble for The Flash and the Central City police department.
Jesse will actually be helping the heroes in the episode, angry that someone else is using his name and gimmick. Of course, being jail-bound also means that he and John Wesley Shipp, who played The Flash on the original series and is Barry Allen’s father on the new one, have the chance to interact once more.
Andrew Kreisberg, one of the EP superteam, told Hitfix, "Having Mark reprise his role as The Trickster was on our original wish list when we were planning our version of The Flash. Christmas and Chanukah came early for us this year when he said yes! We are beyond humbled and excited to have him joining us for another round of deadly trickery!"
The site reports the appearance will be in episode 17 of the first season.
