The Walking Dead spin-off has its male lead. Cliff Curtis will play the divorced teacher who steps into a leadership role, “trying to do right by everyone in his life” named Sean Cabrera. His teenage son Cody, a “rebellious” and “angry” kid has not yet been cast.
The casting follows two of the kids, in the main group, however - Nick and Ashley Tompkins, the teenage children of the as-yet-uncast Nancy Tompkins, had Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey put into the roles officially less than a week ago.
That means we have Cody, Nancy, and a character named Andrea Chapman left from TV Line’s original principal cast list. The series will take place within the same timeline as The Walking Dead - or at least the same zombie apocalypse, but in a different section of the world. It's being developed by series creator Robert Kirkman, with Dave Erickson, and Adam Davidson directing. A pilot has been ordered by AMC so far. The full principal cast list follows.
SEAN CABRERA | A Latino male in his early 40s, Sean is a good man trying to do right by everyone in his life.
CODY CABRERA | Sean’s whip-smart and rebellious teenage son. Known as the angriest kid in town.
NANCY TOMPKINS | A thirtysomething single mom to two kids, Nancy looks like the girl next door, but there’s an edge to her.
NICK TOMPKINS | Nancy’s screwed up teenage son. He’s too old to stay home, too scared to flee.
ASHLEY TOMPKINS | Nancy’s mostly level-headed teenage daughter. Her ambition is in direct proportion to her older brother’s failures. She loves her mom but it’s time to get out of Dodge.
ANDREA CHAPMAN | A somewhat wilted flower child, fortysomething Andrea — yep, another Andrea! — has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage.
