In this ever-ravenous environment for comic book movie news, the press is certainly complicit in sometimes trying to make something out of very little [raises hand, guilty as charged], but have we reached the point that we’re starting to try to make something about of literal nothing?
Here’s Jared Leto on MTV News being asked about his rumored Joker role in 2016’s Suicide Squad.
Does Leto say anything? Perhaps the most telling part of the exchange is that Leto apparently has a pet crow, and for someone who owns a pet crow and that hat, the Oscar winner comes off refreshingly grounded and humble.
And here’s Jennifer Lawrence during a The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 interview being asked by IGN about where we’ll find her Mystique character in that same year’s X-Men: Apocalypse. Lawrence replies “I don’t know” three times over long pauses, clearly struggling to come up with some non-dismissive response to the question, finally speculating where she thinks the character may be.
Of course we just wrote a story about stories being written about nothing, so perhaps the cycle continues...
