The upcoming "Rub-And-Smell" Harley Quinn Annual will now have a scent you might not expect -- something that may or may not be illegal depending on where you live.
At the annual Diamond Retailer Breakfast held earlier Thursday at New York Comic Con, DC Senior Vice President Bob Wayne revealed that the forthcoming annual, written by series writers Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, will be polybagged and labeled with a "drug warning" printed on the front cover promising the smell of cannabis. This annual, scheduled to go on sale October 29, was previously announced as possessing "Rub-And-Smell technology", the U.S. (only) version of which would contain "scents similar to leather, suntan lotion, pizza and what’s referred to in the story as 'cannabisylocibe 7-A.'"
The edition available in "all other territories" will replace the smell of cannabis with "fresh-cut lawn clippings."
Wayne joked that "the issue contains scents designed to offend, inform and amuse," and a cannabis leaf would be featured prominently in the final cover. The cover was displayed to the audience at the Diamond Retailer Breakfast, but DC has not made it available outside that event.
