Ben Affleck actually likes that people have coined the term “Batfleck,” or at least that’s what an interview with EW.com says. The interview focused mostly on the actor’s personal thoughts on Batman, and what fan reaction to the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice casting meant to him.
He jovially talked about having to work out considerably to be “as close to the role as possible” physically, after being “puffy and hungover” for his character in Gone Girl. As for the fan reaction, Affleck echoed his thoughts from when he was first cast.
”Before I took the role, Warner Bros. gave me a bunch of past reactions to casting and said, “Are you sure you want to get into this? This is part and parcel of these movies now. There’s a lot of active fans with a lot of opinions.” To me, having been through a certain amount of that, it doesn’t really… Everyone’s entitled to their opinion,” the actor said. He went on to praise Chris Terrio’s script for the film, as well as Zack Snyder’s directing style, specifically his visuals. “There’s an interesting take,” he assured fans.
He also thanked fans for caring. “It’s great that people do care that much. They want to see the movie that much. And it is incumbent on you to honor the story. There are the Greek myths and these are the American myths. The American myths are these superheroes. People care about ‘em a lot.” Affleck assures he’s doing what he can to “make it as excellent” as possible.
Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is due out on the new date of March 26, 2016.
