Clothes make the man. And the Batman in this case.
During Comic-Con International: San Diego this week, congoers have a chance to see, up close and personal, some of the crimefighting costumes Batman has worn in the various movies in the past twenty five years -- including 2016's Superman vs. Batman: Dawn of Justice. Unveiled Wednesday night on the convention floor by DC Co-Publishers Jim Lee and Dan Didio, it follows up on the grainy still photo from a few months back of Ben Affleck as Batman, and offers fans a more detailed and complete look at what's in store in two years.
"It just brought the reality of the fact that we're finally going to see a movie where Superman and Batman are going to be side-by-side," DiDio tells USA Today. "That's a fanboy dream, and the fact that the costume's here just makes the movie even more real."
Lee says that while the Batman design from Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy remains his favorite, he gives this new Batman design for film high marks for the cape, the faux leather of the cowl, and the lack of sharp edges like most previous Batman film costumes.
"It's got this boxer's physique to it," Lee adds, "which suggests that Batman's more of a brawler than he's been before."
In addition to this outfit, congoers can also view the Batman costumes worn by Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, and Lee's favorite -- Christian Bale. In addition, DC is showing off various Batarangs as well as clown masks from The Dark Knight.
