Comic-Con International: San Diego hasn't even kicked off officially for 2014, but the news is already beginning to come fast and furious. Deadline is reporting that comics author and novelist Warren Ellis has partnered with famed producer Gale Ann Hurd (The Walking Dead, Terminator) on an ass-yet untitled television series with Universe Cable Productions.
“I’ve been strongly drawn to television over the last few years, and working with brilliant and determined collaborators like Gale and the UCP team, I’m delighted at the opportunity to add my voice to the new, novelistic TV form that’s evolved so dramatically," Ellis said in a statement.
Ellis has made several forays into television deals in the past, including ones for Planetary, Global Frequency, and even previous deals with SyFy and AMC for original series. His three-issue series Red with Cully Hamner was adapted for a ultra-successful film in 2010 which proved successful enough to launch a sequel. Ellis' writing of Iron Man in comics in 2005 proved to be one of the key texts from which the Iron Man movie franchise borrowed from; thematically in the first film, and plot-wise in last year's Iron Man 3.
