Mark Waid is heading back to BOOM! Studios. That’s what the video below says, kicking off what BOOM! promises is a series of announcements throughout the month of July leading up to Comic-Con International: San Diego.
Of course, he’s not saying exactly what he’s doing there, except that it’s a creator-owned series, and it’s with “a dear friend of mine, one of the most revered artists in comics, one I’ve wanted to work with for a long time and never have.”
”I’ve been away from BOOM! for a little while now, what with my full time job giving interviews online,” Waid deadpans at the beginning of the video. He also promises more will be coming soon about the series, and praised BOOM!’s creative freedom for he and his artist.
Waid’s history with BOOM! is a lengthy one for the short life of the company. He created his own superhero universe with them on his path to becoming the Editor-in-Chief and then CCO of the company. Since the end of his twin series Irredeemable and Incorruptible with the publisher in May 2012, he has focused on his own digital publisher, Thrillbent, as well as work for Marvel Comics on Daredevil and Hulk. Check out the announcement video below and stay tuned for more on Waid’s return.
