Hawkeye and Deadpool are two of Marvel’s top sharpshooters, and this October they are aiming for each other. IGN has news that the New York-based publisher is launching a six issue series titled Hawkeye vs. Deadpool, pitting archer versus assassin. The series is written by Deadpool co-writer Gerry Duggan, with art provided by frequent Deadpool artist Matteo Lolli.
“Both men have a strong opinion about how to resolve a mystery that is kicked off by a murder on Barton’s doorstep,” Duggan tells IGN’s Joshua Yehl. “There is a larger problem that needs solving, and as the story progresses they find a way to keep at each other. It should be fun.”
Duggan says that the idea to do Hawkeye vs. Deadpool came via a conversation with Brian Michael Bendis during a Marvel retreat, and will feature a “surprise Spider-villain”. The series begins with a #0 issue in October, featuring a cover by James Harren.
