We've known for months now that Dark Horse's line of Star Wars comic titles would be ending sometime this year, but now we know when (sort of): August.

In the just-released solicitations for the publisher's August 2014 titles both ongoing series, Star Wars and Star Wars: Legacy, are billed as series finales. Dark Horse's other remaining limited series Star Wars: Darth Maul—Son of Dathomir concludes in August as well and publisher has confirmed August will be the last month they publish new Star Wars comic books.

They will, however, still be publishing some new trades in subsequent months and a Dark Times Gallery Edition.

The end of this 23-year run of Dark Horse as the exclusive licensed publisher of new Star Wars comic books came about due to the acquisition of Lucasfilm by Disney in 2013; although months elapsed before Dark Horse announced Disney was not renewing their rights to do Star Wars comics, the decision was widely speculated upon by fans and industry observers due to the similar move of PIXAR titles from BOOM! to Marvel upon Disney's acquisition of Marvel.

When Disney announces the transition of the Star Wars comic book license from Dark Horse to the in-house comics publisher Marvel, they billed the launching of that to be in 2015. Unless some further announcement is made to alter those plans, fans of Star Wars comics will be faced with at least a four-month drought of comics, and possibly more if Disney waits until Star Wars Episode VII is released in December 2015 to restart the comic book line.

Dubbed "The end of an era" by Dark Horse's marketing, here are all three new Star Wars comic book titles on sale in August 2014.
