Update: Hours after getting a series order from Fox , here's the first Gotham trailer.
Original story: It's official: a Batman prequel will be on television this fall. A week ahead of their upfronts where such announcements tend to take place, Fox has announced a series order for Gotham - not much of a surprise since they bought the series option when they ordered the pilot.
Still, this is the first of the many DC Comics series that are in development for 2014-2015 TV series to get an official series order. Constantine at NBC and The Flash at The CW have also had good buzz, but no official pick-up yet.
Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as a young Detective James Gordon, who along with his partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) starts his first case after joining the Gotham City Police Department: the murder of the Waynes. Batman is nowhere to be found, since Bruce Wayne is a mere 11 or so years old, but characters like Oswald Cobblepot, Selina Kyle, and Alfred Pennyworth will join other DC Comics characters to populate the fabled city.
