ABC and Marvel Studios are in the midst of heavy promotion for “Ragtag,” the penultimate episode of Season 1 of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. In the episode, the team, now knowing that Ward is a traitorous Hydra agent, try to figure out what to do next.
On the official Facebook page, ABC shared a clip of Coulson and May going undercover at Cybertek Corporation, the corporation responsible for Deathlok. They go in using Fitz-Simmons on comms to try to apply as ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists in a rather humorous scene showing Gregg’s Scottish accent and other funny moments.
Meanwhile, at LA Times HeroComplex, the site has a nearly three-minute long clip (no embed allowed, sorry), that shows Ward’s origin story. A young Grant Ward is visited in prison by none other than John Garrett. The clip shows the recruitment, which started after Ward almost killed his brother in a fire (so, you know, he wasn’t exactly great before turning traitor). Check out that clip at the link.
Finally, the latest in the series of comic artist posters for the show was released, featuring art by Emma Rios. The image shows the darkness inside Ward via Hydra, while also highlighting the light yang to his yin, as Skye and the S.H.I.E.L.D. team are held parallel.
“Every villain in the Marvel Universe has a reason for what they do and this is the episode where you learn just what makes Ward tick – and then go boom,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel TV in a press release. “We knew this job required someone special to bring this tragic and brutal backstory to life and Emma Rios was our first choice to interpret the hardships of Grant’s past and what is to come.”
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesday at 8pm on ABC, and has just two episodes left of the first season. No renewal has been announced yet.
