The Justice League is coming together.
Variety is reporting Thursday night that Warner Bros. and Zack Snyder have cast theater actor Ray Fisher as Cyborg in 2016’s Superman/Batman Man of Steel sequel, which began production this month.
If accurate, the casting suggests Geoff John's and Jim Lee’s 2011 New 52 Justice League comic book reboot is perhaps more of a guidepost for the developing DC Cinematic Universe than was previously known.
According to the Hollywood trade, Man of Steel star Henry Cavill signaled the inclusion of Cyborg in the 2016 sequel in the bonus features of the film’s recent home video release. Cavill reportedly said there’s a “great deal of promise in Cyborg as well as the fictional research facility S.T.A.R. Labs.”
“I think he would create an incredible bridge between superheroes and humanity,” Cavill said of the Cyborg character, according to Variety.
Warner Bros. reportedly had no comment on this story.
