HERCULES Trailer Debuts, The Rock Teases DC Comics Movie Role
Dwayne Johnson as Hercules
Son of Zeus. Lion of Olympus. The Rock. Yup, those are all names for Hercules, or at least will be this Summer if Paramount has their way. The first trailer debuted at Cinemacon, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson himself tweeting out the link early to his followers during a fan Q&A on twitter.
In addition to the trailer, Johnson had this to say about future DC Comics movie work, when asked by a fan who his favorites are and who he'd like to play.
"Green Lantern (John Stewart) and Black Adam are my fav superheroes, but GL's already been made and stamped."
That, along with earlier in the conversation saying, "Myself & DC have agreed on a character.. extremely complex, well known (but never played) and a pure BAD ASS MF;)" sure makes it sound like Black Adam is in The Rock's future. During a Cinemacon roundtable interview, he also said he had three rules he laid down with DC and WB about who he wanted to play.
"He had to be extremely complex and have a lot going on. What that does for me as an actor and for the studio is it just gives us space that we can explore. What that does, again as an actor, is that it gives me a little bit of space…it gives me a chance to put an imprint into his personality with the set of tools that I can bring to the table and put a very unique twist on his personality – but still pay homage to who he is. He had to be a badass MFer. And on Superman level of power where he can throw down. In those three qualities I’m happy we found that character and right now we’re out to a lot of writers."
Keep revving those speculation engines.
