A second creator-focused anthology series is launching at Marvel in June. Just as Savage Wolverine features rotating creative teams telling short stories built around the ‘ole canucklehead, Savage Hulk gives the Jade Giant his own spotlight series.
The series will launch in June with a story by Alan Davis - the artist will also handle writing duties on the story, similar to how Richard Isanove, Frank Cho, Jock, and Phil Jimenez have on Savage Wolverine. Editor Mark Paniccia told Marvel.com in the announcement that Davis’s story will feature the X-Men, the Leader, Abomination, and Hulkbuster units. The editor says his story will show “the heroic side of Bruce Banner” while also featuring “the action and mayhem you want to see in a Hulk book.”
Following Davis will be Jim Starlin in a cosmic-oriented story that will feature Thanos, Annihilus, Blastaar, “and more,” says Paniccia. “It’s crazy fun and action packed and super detailed.”
Savage Hulk will be "within the framework of continuity," but can take place at any time, in order to provide writers and artists more "creative freedom."
