SPIDER-MAN 2099 Tease as Wacker's Last Editorial Action

Are we staring down a new Spider-Man 2099 series for 2014? It sure seems that way, if outgoing editor Steve Wacker's tease in his final letter column can be trusted.
Speaking on the value of letter columns and expressing his appreciation to fans that have written in during his tenure at Marvel Comics, the new Marvel Animation VP had this to say:
"While Twitter and message boards have taken over a lot of the back-and-forth in this day and age, to me there's no replacing the thrill in finding and debating like-minded fans and discovering bits of tidbits and news* on a page like this."
The asterisk of course led to a smaller print in red directly below the paragraph:
"*For example: the Spidey 2099 series that Ellie is putting together for later in the year would be a great bit of surprising news! If it were true, that is."
We've heard rumors of a Spider-Man 2099 series since October 2013, when Miguel O'Hara, the titular character of that series, was stranded in the past after an adventure alongside Otto Octavius's Superior Spider-Man. The character has been working somewhat undercover at the fledgeling Alchemax in the present day since then, with his most recent appearance in today's issue, just before the letter column tease.
We asked Marvel Comics for comment, and they only said "wait and see." It's not a confirmation, but it's far from a denial, as well.
