TVs original Fastest Man Alive might be meeting TV’s newest Fastest Man Alive on a recurring basis. The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline are reporting John Wesley Shipp, the beloved star of CBS’s 1990’s short-lived The Flash series, will join the cast of The CW’s new The Flash series starring Grant Gustin in the title role/Barry Allen.
According to THR, Shipp will guest star in the pilot playing a “mysterious character” and if the show receives a series order his role would expand to recurring.
With Geoff Johns co-writing the pilot, and the so-far supporting cast almost all steeped from Flash and DC comic book lore , the Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick is going to be the name most comic book fans are going to focus on until the role is officially revealed. There's also the possibility of Barry Allen's father, who is central to the show's mystery, as Barry is trying on his own time to find who really killed his mother, thinking his jailed father was wrongfully accused.
