Evangeline Lilly (Lost, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) is in "early talks" to join Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas in 2015's Ant-Man, according to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday evening. The role is reportedly for multiple films adds the Hollywood trade, or as THR put it, "is not intended to be a one-off appearance."
The elephant in the room, of course, is whether the role will be long-time Ant-Man love interest/partner/fellow Avengers founding member Janet Van Dyne, aka The Wasp. If so, and if we can assume Lilly will play a romantic interest of Rudd (Scott Lang) and not the 69 year-old Douglas (Hank Pym), then Marvel comic book continuity will get one of its most significant rewrites in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.
Variety's reports says though the role is unspecified, some "insiders" say she would play Pym’s daughter and Lang’s love interest.
Ant-Man is scheduled for release on July 17, 2015.
