Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli’s DMZ is the latest project that began as a DC Comic that is being developed for the small screen.
Deadline is reporting the 2005-2012 Vertigo series that ran for 72 issues is being developed for Syfy by Mad Men executive producers/writers Maria and Andre Jacquemetton and Gravity/Harry Potter producer David Heyman.
The series will be written by the wife-and-husband Jacquemettons who were Emmy Award winners on Mad Men for 6 seasons before leaving last May. DMZ is set “in the near future and centers on a young man trapped in Manhattan, which has been turned into a demilitarized zone (DMZ) after a second American civil war.”
DMZ becomes the sixth potential TV series currently under development that is based on a DC Comics series or concept, the other five being The Flash, Hourman, and I, Zombie (all at The CW), Gotham (Fox), and Constantine (NBC).
Arrow of course is already in its second season on The CW.
