While there's no new casting news just yet, some fresh candidates have emerged for screen tests for the new The Fantastic Four reboot from Fox.
Kate Mara and Emmy Rossum both screen tested for the role of Sue Storm on Tuesday, THR reports. Earlier candidates Saoirse Ronan and Elizabeth Olsen are both reportedly out of contention due to scheduling and interests (the latter, of course, was cast as Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Studios live-action superhero movie Avengers: Age of Ultron).
Meanwhile, British actor Christian Cook tested for Ben Grimm, and Miles Teller, who has been rumored for the role, tested for Reed Richards, says the report.
The actors, if cast, would join Michael B. Jordan, who is reportedly already cast as the Human Torch. Jordan starred in director Josh Trank's breakout film Chronicle.
The actor ages are consistent with plans for a slightly younger-skewing cast, with all but Mara being 26 or just barely 27. No word on casting for the villain of the film, who will reportedly still be Doctor Doom, despite being the villain in both of the prior Fantastic Four films. There's a possible twist though, THR reports, and that's that Fox is "open to" gender swapping Doctor Doom should the right actress emerge for the role.
The Fantastic Four (yes, with a "the"), the reboot of the franchise, is currently scheduled for a June 19, 2015 release.
