Report: THE CW's THE FLASH Adds Two To Cast, Possible Supervillains?
Deadline is reporting Friday evening that actors Rick Cosnett (The Vampire Diaries) and Danielle Panabaker (Bones, Necessary Roughness) have been added to the cast of the CW’s The Flash pilot, alongside star Grant Gustin (Barry Allen/The Flash) and new addition Jesse L. Martin (Detective West ).
Cosnett is reportedly playing Detective Eddie Thawne, “a recent transfer to the Central City Police Department, whose past is a mystery and who harbors a dark secret.”
Flash fans of course recognize the name Thawne as the surname of long-time Flash villain Eobard Thawne, aka Professor Zoom or the Reverse-Flash, a villain from the future that was obsessed with Barry Allen, who most recently played an integral role in Flashpoint, the 2011 DC event series that spawned the New 52. In the comics, he was central to a mystery that the television Barry Allen has already been seen investigating. While a new Reverse-Flash entered the comics with the reboot, Thawne is nowhere to be seen as of yet.
Panabaker is reportedly playing Caitlin Snow, “a highly intelligent bioengineering expert who lost her fiancé during an explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs.”
DC Comics New 52 readers know Snow as a new incarnation of the Firestorm villain Killer Frost – a ‘heat vampire’ who was recently featured in the Justice League of America #7.2: Killer Frost #1 Villains Months one-shot.
