Bryan Singer held court on twitter today, answering fans' questions about X-Men: Days of Future Past, which has a debut trailer hitting Tuesday morning October 29, 2013. While the director didn't have anything Earth-shattering to say during the Q&A, he did give hints that he'll be sticking around the X-Men movie franchise.
When asked "Is there any X-Men character that you haven't used that you would like to?" Singer replied, "Yeah, Gambit, Deadpool, and a few others I'd rather not mention."
In other answers, Singer said unequivocally that we'll "see the sentinels in action" in this film, but did temper expectations of the first trailer, saying it's "primarily a character piece" as they're still working on the visual effects for the film.
Answering a question about the overall tone of the film, the director said, "Although there is a great deal of humor, the overall tone is a bit darker than previous films, particularly because of the stakes."
Mystique is a "more hardened kick-ass character" than she was in X-Men: First Class, and Singer was impressed by how much the casts of both franchises he's bringing together knew and loved their characters. "They were all fantastic and made the experience fun," Singer said, though he did note that working with such a large cast was "slightly intimidating."
The Q&A went by quickly, but was interesting to observe as Singer has taken a personal hand in Days of Future Past's promotion since the beginning, often using twitter to reveal pictures from on the set, tease or announce new characters, and speak directly to the fans about a project he clearly feels personally excited about. Signing off, Singer noted the trailer will go up at 6AM Pacific, 9AM Eastern tomorrow morning. Newsarama will have it here for you.
