It looks like Marvel’s Agent Carter is being called back into duty – on a full-time basis.
The Hollywood news site Deadline is reporting that Marvel is in the early stages of developing a television series surrounding Hayley Atwell’s Agent Carter.
“Marvel is notoriously secretive about their development, and no one would comment, but I hear the company is working on a concept for a potential TV series inspired by Agent Carter,” the “Marvel One-Shot” included on the Iron Man 3 blu-ray, says Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva.
Atwell first appeared as Carter in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, and was later enlisted to star in the short film for Marvel’s “One Shot” series. This short film, simply titled Agent Carter, was previewed extensively at events like Comic-Con International: San Diego but won’t make its formal debut until released as part of the Iron Man 3 Blu-Ray package on September 24.
Deadline says the project is in the “very early stages” and is one of several in the works at Marvel, and that the studio is currently looking for a screenwriter. The site further says if the series is greenlit, it’s “unclear” if Atwell would play Carter or if it would be re-cast. It is worth noting that another Agent Carter is making her debut in 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, this one being "Agent 13" aka Sharon Carter, played by Revenge's Emily VanCamp.
