Screenwriter Tapped for Third G.I. JOE Film
The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision is reporting that screenwriter Evan Daugherty (Snow White & The Huntsman) has been tapped to write the script for the third film in the Paramount/Hasbro franchise G.I. Joe franchise. Daugherty will join director Jon M. Chu, who announced earlier this year he was returning after directing the successful second film G.I. Joe: Retaliation.
Ellen Page Volunteers For KITTY PRYDE Film If Joss Whedon’s Available
Hot off news that she was in negotiations to star in a live-action adaptation of the comic series Queen & Country, actress Ellen Page says she’d also be up to reprise her role as Kitty Pryde after talk that Avengers director Joss Whedon was interested in a solo film for the character. Whedon’s interest was mentioned in passing by Vulture reporter Jennifer Vineyard, prompting the Juno actress to jump in.
“I have heard that, yeah! Well, I'm available!” Page says laughingly, according to Vulture. “I love that. Kitty Pryde's awesome. I'm super grateful to be the actress who's gotten to be her, and you only desperately hope that the true fans who have a right to demand what they want and who have been passionate about these stories for a really long time, that you can pull it off for them. I would be so thrilled to play Kitty Pryde again. I really would.”
Page recently wrapped shooting on X-Men: Days of Future Past, reprising her role from 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand. And although the chances of Whedon directing a Kitty Pryde or X-Men movie anytime soon remain slim, Whedon used the character in a major way during his run writing the comic series Astonishing X-Men.
10,000+ Fans Sign Petition For LOKI Solo Movie
This summer Tom Hiddleston reprises role as the trickster Loki in Thor: The Dark World, but the actor’s fans want something more – namely a movie. Under the banner of “Free Loki,” an unnamed fan in El Paso, Texas has started a petition on Change.Org begging Marvel Studios to produce a feature film for the disgraced Asgardian prince.
“We feel Loki (as portrayed by Tom Hiddleston), due to the astounding following both the character and actor have earned as a result of the Marvel films, more than warrants further exploration of his story,” reads the petition. “We believe such an endeavor would not only be profitable and successful but provide a larger view for general audiences of the incredibly complex and diverse personality a well-known villain of the Marvel universe is gifted with.”
Hiddleston came to fame playing this role, and was even tapped by Marvel to play Loki in the unusual venue of a Comic-Con International: San Diego panel during the promotion for Thor: The Dark World.
Wolverine Nixed From 2002 SPIDER-MAN Film Over Wardrobe Malfunction
In an interview this week promoting his upcoming film Prisoners, actor Hugh Jackman revealed that back in 2001 he and current Marvel Studios’ head Kevin Feige had worked out a way for Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine in the then-filming first Sam Raimi Spider-Man film.
“We really tried to get me to come on and do something, whether it was a gag or just to walk through the shot or something. The problem was, we couldn’t find the suit,” Jackman told Huffington Post.
The actor says the Wolverine suit was “stuck in something,” dulling the prospects of it happening.
