Seeing a event comic crossover with another comic isn’t new – but crossing over with a game? That’s what’s happening for the Facebook/mobile game Avengers Alliance and the company’s upcoming event storyline Infinity.
According to Marvel’s Vice President of Game Development TQ Jefferson, Avengers Alliance will have several Infinity-themed Spec Op missions, as well as a new reward hero and even the promise of the introduction of a new Marvel character never before seen in comics, games or anywhere. Avengers Alliance players will also be eligible to receive a free digital comic book after they complete certain tasks in the game.
Avengers Alliance is a RPG developed by the third-party company Playdom in 2012, and is available both as an iOS app and a Flash-based Facebook game. It won “best Social Game” in the 2012 Video Game Awards, and said that the game has been installed in 40 million devices worldwide. In fall 2012, a Spec Op mission launched featuring the "Phoenix Five" and the Avengers vs X-Men storyline alongside that story, as well.
