Jamie Foxx is playing an American president in this month's White House Down, but when promoting the film on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Tuesday night, he also discussed a different role: Electro in the currently-in-production Amazing Spider-Man 2.
"I play Max Dillon, and this is me before I turn into the villain," Foxx says of the disheveled pre-supervillain look seen above, which he says was crafted by his hair stylist sister, who he also worked with on Django Unchained and Ray. "I want to be the first black man with a combover. 'Make me look like I would look if I never made it.'"
Turning to a picture in the Electro makeup, Foxx said, "It's like a blue cast. They're going to run electricity through it."
Foxx previewed his deep-pitched in-character voice for Electro, joking that it's awkward to switch from that to his normal speaking voice. The Oscar-winning actor also specifically praised Dane DeHaan, the film's Harry Osborn, calling him "amazing."
Amazing Spider-Man 2, directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield in the title role, is scheduled for release on May 2, 2014. Here's the Tonight Show clip:
