Deadline is reporting Friday evening that Marvel Studios is “courting” Aaron Taylor-Johnson to play Quicksilver in The Avengers 2. Taylor-Johnson, of course, plays the title role in Kick-Ass, which he’ll reprise later this summer in its sequel Balls To The Wall.
Deadline goes on to call the situation “embryonic,” adding Taylor-Johnson has “scheduling issues,” but that “Marvel wants him.”
This would not be the first or last time a Hollywood trade reported a casting ‘desire’ by a studio that didn’t come to pass if ultimately Taylor-Johnson doesn’t land the role, so take this with a sizable grain of salt for now.
Interestingly, Quicksilver will be played by actor Evan Peters in next summer’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past, who happened to appear with Taylor-Johnson in Kick-Ass. Factor in Chris Evans and Ryan Reynolds and the lesson here is if you want to role in a comic book superhero movie, it's best to have another comic book superhero movie on your resume.
