June 12 is MAN OF STEEL Day, Free SUPERMAN Comics

DC Comics and Sears are teaming up for a second Free Comic Book Day in 2013. June 12, 2013, two days before the release of the new Superman movie Man of Steel, is being declared "Man of Steel Day" by the publisher.

Fans who go to a local comic shop will receive a free copy of All-Star Superman #1 Special Edition, reprinting the first chapter of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's seminal Superman tale. Shops will also have posters and Man of Steel-branded bags to promote the movie.

DC points out that Superman Unchained #1, by Scott Snyder and Jim Lee, will also be out, and announced that the previously talked about 4-page sized foldout two-sided poster page will be "easily removable" from the issue, allowing fans to use it as a poster for display.

In addition to brick-and-mortar retail, digital will get in on the fun as well for "Man of Steel Day," with a special sale on comiXology and the DC Comics app, putting 201 Superman comic books on sale for $.99 through the digital retailer.

Man of Steel hits theaters June 14, 2013.
