Two days removed from Iron Man 3's massively successful opening weekend, Deadline is reporting that Shane Black's next gig is co-writing and directing a film for Sony based on pulp hero Doc Savage.
The site says Sony "just closed a deal" with Black, who co-wrote the screenplay with Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry. Black has been attached to Doc Savage since at least February 2010, when Variety reported that the three were co-writing a script for Sony, with Black slated to direct. Batman movie veteran Michael Uslan is reported to be on board as a producer.
Iron Man 3 netted the second-highest domestic grossing opening this past weekend, with an actual take of $174.1 million (down slightly from a $175.3 million estimate). Its current worldwide total is $711.2 million, according to Box Office Mojo.
