"[To's] brother-in-arms is Ian Herring, an amazing painter and colorist of Jim Henson's Tale of Sand, for which he and Ramon Perez were nominated for an Eisner for Best Coloring," Christy said. "Ian singlehandedly proves on this book the importance of the contribution of a colorist to the overall package."

The book is designed by Jon Adams, who has worked for McSweeney's and Wired. "Jon Adams is the new Chip Kidd," Christy said. "You'll see him really cut loose later this year on our forthcoming graphic novel The Joyners in 3D by R.J. Ryan and All New X-Men's David Marquez, which Jon is not only designing but lettering as well."

Archaia Goes Superhero with CYBORG 009

Date: 28 March 2013 Time: 09:40 AM ET
Archaia, the award-winning publisher of Tale of Sand and Return of the Dapper Men, is adapting Shotaro Ishinomori's manga Cyborg 009, and we have the exclusive reveal of the cover to April's $1 preview issue.

The one-shot precedes July's release of the full-length graphic novel, written by F.J. DeSanto and Bradley Cramp, with art from Marcus To and Ian Herring.

"Marcus' work on Cyborg 009 is a revelation. He's taken his game to a whole new level for this project, expertly combining a style that made manga legend Shotaro Ishinomori's Cyborgs so popular in Japan with everything that he spent the past four years learning about superheroes at DC," Archaia editor-in-chief Stephen Christy told Newsarama.

Two Cyborg 009 interior pages, not found in the preview book, follow.
