Marvel Comics and TV Guide are showing off artist Nimit Malavia’s cover to Marvel’s September-debuting graphic novel adaptation of their sister-company ABC's TV series Once Upon a Time.
With a story developed by the show’s co-producer Dan Thomsen, co-written by Dan Thomsen, and illustrated by artists Malavia, Vasilis Lolos, Mike Del Mundo, Stephanie Hans and Mike Henderson, the OGN will tie directly into the TV show’s continuity and focuses on the Evil Queen’s relationship with the Huntsman.
"We wanted to explore some new narrative territory that the show hadn't fully covered yet," editor Emily Shaw told TV Guide. "The Huntsman was perfect. Fans love him, he's such a compelling character, but his background is still pretty mysterious. Especially when it comes to his servitude to Regina, the Evil Queen."
Once Upon A Time: Shadow of the Queen is set following the events of the Season 1 episode "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter." “The Evil Queen has, quite literally, captured the Huntsman’s heart -- and now he’s her slave,” reads Marvel’s solicitation."The Evil Queen is still on a rampage to destroy her nemesis [Snow White]," Shaw explained. "We'll get to witness some important events from the Huntsman's past. Events that define him as a character and explore a new side to his relationship with the Evil Queen." Got a comment?
