Other Marvel associates are in on the fun, as well. Marvel movies and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Clark Gregg provided the introduction for the book, and Stan Lee provided an Afterword. Ellis is excited to launch a new initiative with Marvel Comics. "The main reason I took it is this will be the first of Marvel's graphic novel line," the writer told EW. He appreciates the format, too, saying, "It’s nice to be able to do something in comics without having to watch the 22-page count. It’s not often I’ve done anything in comics where I wasn’t watching that count and trying to find the break for the end of the issues." first preview gallery. Original Story: An Amazon.com product listing and description has tipped the hand of Marvel Comics, announcing a new product in their continuing line of original graphic novels, last promoted with their Season One line. Avengers: Endless Wartime is an original hardcover graphic novel featuring the Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and the creative team they've assembled is no slouch: writer Warren Ellis and artist Mike McKone. The cover features Captain America, Thor, and Iron Man side-by-side and the first product description gives some insight to the story, which will feature an ancient beast wearing the red, white, and blue that has a direct tie to Thor. No other characters are listed in the description aside from a general "assemblage of allies." From Amazon.com: "An abomination, long thought buried, has resurfaced in a war-torn land. But now it wears an American flag. Faced with another nightmare reborn, Captain America will not stand for yet more death at the hands of a ghost from his past. Haunted by his greatest shame, Thor must renew the hunt for a familiar beast. At their side, an assemblage of allies united to end the threats no one of them could face alone. They are soldiers. Warriors. Comrades-in-arms. Mighty heroes led by a living legend, stronger together than apart. They are the Avengers." Marvel lists the release date as October 2, 2013 and the price at $24.99.
