Marvel Studios has found its Drax the Destroyer, and it's former WWE champion Dave Bautista, according to The Hollywood Reporter. One of the main roles in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy live-action film, Jason Momoa was reported last month by Latino Review to be "in negotiations" to play Drax, but THR is saying Bautista — long reported to be a contender — is a done deal. Bautista wrestled as "Batista" in WWE from 2002 to 2010, and was one of the company's most featured performers in that time. In recent years, he's pursued mixed martial arts and acting, appearing in last year's The Man with the Iron Fists. Bautista is the second actor to be announced in the Guardians of the Galaxy cast, following Parks and Recreation's Chris Pratt in the lead role of Star-Lord. The film will be written and directed by James Gunn, and is scheduled for release on Aug. 1, 2014. Got a comment? There's lots of conversation on Newsarama's FACEBOOK and TWITTER!
