According to box office returns, the newest James Bond film is looking to set records. As reported by Variety, Quantum of Solace, the second Bond film starring Daniel Craig as James Bond saw a European opening weekend of $38.6 million. The film opened this past weekend in the U.K., France and Sweden, and will open in the United States on November 14th.$25.3 million of that was the U.K. box office, which amounted to 70% of the weekend market, beating out the previous opening weekend record held by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. France accounted for $10.6 million over three days (a Bond film record), while Sweden accounted for $2.7 million. The sequel to Casino Royale opens in 57 additional markets this coming weekend, including Germany, Italy and Russia, and may be on track to being the #1 action film in the international market, according to Variety, beating Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which saw a $467 million box office.
