IRON MAN Goes Anime in New Movie April 2013

Sure, Tony Stark will suit up for a new big screen adventure in May 2013, but if you can't wait for more Iron Man movie goodness, then Madhouse, Marvel Entertainment, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment have some good news for you.

A follow-up to the Iron Man anime series produced first for Japanese audiences before coming stateside, Iron Man: Rise of Technovore is a new feature-length movie coming to Blu-ray and DVD on April 16, 2013. The movie is animated again by powerhouse anime studio Madhouse, and features more than just the shellheaded hero. War Machine, Nick Fury, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and somewhat surprising addition The Punisher are also suiting up alongside Iron Man for the feature.

The movie's official logline says:

"After a deadly terrorist attack, Iron Man is blamed and must go on the run from S.H.I.E.L.D. and stop the insane villain Ezekiel Stane who has developed a new type of “bio tech” that seems to outclass even the Iron Man armor."

Matthew Mercer (Resident Evil Damnation) stars as Iron Man, and Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead) voices Punisher. The Blu-ray has an exclusive art gallery, and both that and the DVD have behind-the-scenes featurettes, as well.

The film was directed by Paranoid Agent's Hiroshi Hamasaki, and written by Iron Man veteran Brandon Auman (Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Armored Adventures).
