The Sixth Gun took a major leap towards the small screen Tuesday, with word from Deadline that NBC has ordered a pilot based on the Oni Press series.
The pilot will be produced by 's Carlton Cuse. The Sixth Gun, written by Cullen Bunn and illustrated by Brian Hurtt, debuted in 2010 and was first announced to be in development for TV at 2011's Comic-Con International in San Diego, with the original plan for it to be adapated as a Syfy miniseries.
The Sixth Gun takes place during the Civil War, and features protagonists Drake Sinclair and Becky Montcrief against otherworldly forces in pursuit of the titular "sixth gun."
