The first international poster for Fox's 2013 X-film The Wolverine hit the web overnight. The poster shows a kneeling Wolverine, with claws out on one hand and a katana, the blade of the Japanese Samurai warrior in the other.
The rain-soaked Logan as a lone figure, sword in hand, is a stark contrast to the guest star-filled X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a mild financial success but critical failure in the X-Men film universe. The Wolverine is largely based on the first Wolverine comic book mini-series by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, and the mood of the comic, serious and introspective, seems to translate to the film, if this poster is any indication.
Marvel and Fox have also released a "motion poster" version with the rain coursing down in a short looping video for all your tumblr needs. You can download that by clicking here.
The Wolverine is scheduled to hit theaters July 26, 2013 in the US.
FANTASTIC FOUR IN 2015
And in more Fox/Marvel news: The studio's reboot of Fantastic Four now has a release date, March 6, 2015, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That adds to an already busy year for comic book-based films, as the Avengers sequel and the planned Justice League are both also scheduled for 2015.
The film is slated to be directed by Chronicle's Josh Trank. Fox's last Fantastic Four film was 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
