Sources including The Hollywood Reporter bring the second bit of S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot casting news, with TV veteran Ming-Na joining the cast as "Melinda May." Melinda May is a new character, one not from Marvel Comics, or the list of characters publicized earlier this month. THR describes her as a "top-notch pilot, weapons expert and soldier who is described as being soulful but damaged by her time spent in combat." Ming-Na is perhaps best known for her six-season stint on ER, and was the voice of Mulan in the 1998 Disney animated feature. The cast already includes Clark Gregg as Agent Phil Coulson, whose involvement was confirmed at New York Comic Con. The S.H.I.E.L.D. pilot is currently in motion at ABC, developed by Avengers director/screen writer Joss Whedon along with his frequent collaborators Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen. Got a comment?
