Update: Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter have both added more detail, reporting that this weekend's Labor Day expansion sees Avengers making a one-week jump to 1,700 screens. Original story: The Avengers is returning to theaters this coming weekend, less than a month before the film's DVD and Blu-ray release on Sept. 25. In an announcement on the movie's official Facebook page, fans are encouraged to "see it again on the big screen this Labor Day," from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6. The image, featuring Thanos, was accompanied by a caption reading, "Don’t forget to stay through the credits…" Currently, the film is at $1.491 billion in worldwide totals, according to Box Office Mojo, and a re-release will likely put it over $1.5. Avengers made $115,335 in 123 theaters last weekend. Got a comment? There's lots of conversation on Newsarama's FACEBOOK and TWITTER!
